Why I write

I was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago this month. To be precise, on 22nd January 2016. I’d like to say that I started writing about my experience right from the beginning ... but I didn’t. The truth is that I was much too traumatised and shocked to think about writing it all down. … Continue reading Why I write →

I finished this wonderful memoir today whilst sitting in my garden contemplating how much joy & solace I derive from flowers. Wow @rosiekinchen I loved The Ballast Seed on so many levels. The illumination of Marianne North and her adventuring, whilst never shying away from the values of colonial society, captivated me. I can’t wait to go and find the gallery that she had built at Kew Gardens to display her paintings. The botanical history of plants is fascinating - I really must learn more of the Latin names. The community & fellowship at the garden and the social commentary through the book is so interesting.
Had a very fun evening yesterday with two complete strangers who happened to be paddle boarding past my garden on the Grand Union canal. @sup.loving.shilpa & I connected on here at the start of the year & I offered her a bed for the night after day 2 of her epic #supthegrandunion journey. @supcoach_belle joined Shilpa for the first 3 days & so she also stayed with me.
Finally took some photos in the garden yesterday. There’s a lot going on thanks to the sunshine and rain- perfect conditions.
Loving life flat in the bluebells this morning.
